Three months have passed since the ECtHR&#8217;s decision, however, compensation has not been paid to Elchin, his relatives said.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In April of this year, the ECHR ruled to pay Hasanzade compensation of 7,500 euros, recognizing a violation of his rights under Article 3 (prohibition of torture and inhuman treatment) of the European Convention on Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On December 14, 2008, Hasanov was detained while covering a protest action. At the police station, he was subjected to mental and physical pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 2 this year, the Sheki Court of Appeal sentenced Elchin Hasanzade and blogger Ibrahim Turksoy to 8 months in prison on charges of libel and insult. The lawsuit was filed by an official of the Mingachevir city administration Shahriyar Mustafayev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both convicts were recognized as political prisoners by human rights activists.
