According to him, January 11, the prosecutor&#8217;s office sent a letter to his lawyer as saying that &#8220;there are no grounds for a criminal case in this case,&#8221; said Yagublu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawyer Neimat Kerimli called the refusal of the prosecutor&#8217;s office &#8220;absurd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the prosecutor&#8217;s office motivated its decision by Article 39.1.1 of the Criminal Procedure Code &#8211; &#8220;the absence of an event of crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This is utter absurdity. &#8220;The &#8220;event of a crime&#8221; is obvious: Tofig Yagublu was detained by police in front of a dozen people and journalists, and a few hours later he appeared before the public with serious injuries on his face,&#8221; said the lawyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was confirmed by a medical examination. &#8220;If the doctors had written that they &#8216;found no evidence&#8217; of Yagublu&#8217;s beating, another matter. He noted that the defense would appeal the decision of the prosecutor&#8217;s office in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It should be reminded that Yagublu was detained and severely beaten during a protest in Baku on December 1. He was kept in custody until the evening and had been beaten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yagublu filed a complaint to the Prosecutor&#8217;s Office of the Sabail district and testified for 4.5 hours on December 3, following which he was sent for medical examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Yagublu, he was beaten at the 39th police station in Sabail district, then he was taken outside the city and dumped from a car 72 km west of Baku.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sabail district prosecutor&#8217;s office refused to institute criminal proceedings over the beating of Tofig Yagublu, a member of the coordinating center of the National Council and the &#8220;Musavat&#8221; Party.
