This decision was made on November 5 by the Ganja military court. Lawyer Zabil Gakhramanov told Turan about this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is expected that in the coming days the same decision will be made with respect to 8 more defendants in this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 5, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev appealed to the Plenum of the Supreme Court with a request to review the sentences of 19 persons convicted in the &#8220;Terter case&#8221; (on charges of espionage in favor of Armenia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 30, the Plenum of the Supreme Court sent the cases of 19 convicts in the &#8220;Terter case&#8221; for a new consideration by the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On November 2, the Ganja Court of Appeal decided to return the case to the court of first instance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">* After the April 2016 fighting in Azerbaijan, a group of military personnel was brought to the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office, the State Security Service, the Ministry of Defense and the Interior Ministry in a joint statement claimed that the military were guilty of spying on Armenia. The public learned about the mass torture of detainees in May-June 2017 only in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to human rights activists, more than 100 soldiers and officers were tortured, 25 soldiers were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment, at least 9 people died from torture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later, some of the convicts were acquitted, and the perpetrators of torture were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process of rehabilitation of illegally convicted is ongoing.
