{"id":25770,"date":"2023-06-22T17:29:22","date_gmt":"2023-06-22T17:29:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.irfs.org\/?p=25770"},"modified":"2023-06-22T17:29:26","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T17:29:26","slug":"elmir-abbasov-sentenced-to-20-days-of-administrative-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.irfs.org\/az\/news-feed\/elmir-abbasov-sentenced-to-20-days-of-administrative-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"Elmir Abbasov sentenced to 20 days of administrative arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sumgayit city court sentenced today &#8220;Nida&#8221; youth civil movement board member Elmir Abbasov to 20 days of administrative arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was reported to Turan by lawyer Zibeyda Sadygova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to her, the police drew up a report against Abbasov under Article 510 (disorderly conduct) and 535.1 (failure to obey the police) of the Administrative Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specifically, police alleged that Abbasov was &#8220;using foul language&#8221; in the street in Sumgayit and &#8220;failed to obey the police when called to order&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the trial, Abbasov denied the police allegations and said that he had been detained in the courtyard of the house where he lived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The judge dismissed administrative proceedings under Article 510, but upheld the charge under Article 535.1 and sentenced Abbasov to 20 days of administrative detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abbasov complained of ill-treatment during his detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particular, he pointed to a scratch on his neck and traces of wounds on his wrist due to the handcuffing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this regard, the judge announced that he would send this information to the city prosecutor&#8217;s office for investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The defence intends to appeal the court&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before the court session, Abbasov managed to shout out to his associates that he was not guilty of anything and was detained &#8220;for the exercise of freedom of expression&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abbasov was detained on the evening of 21 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Interior Ministry said the detention was due to his violation of public order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the &#8220;N\u0130DA&#8221; movement said he was detained due to his harsh criticism of police action when&nbsp;dispersing a protest action in the village of S\u00f6y\u00fcdlu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sumgayit city court sentenced today &#8220;Nida&#8221; youth civil movement board member Elmir Abbasov to 20 days of administrative arrest.
