Safarli’s mother Dilyara Askerova told Turan about this.<\/p>\n
\u201cI spoke to Farid on the phone yesterday. He said there was an appeal court in his case. Farid was not brought to court, and his lawyer was also not invited to the trial. Three judges themselves decided to reject the appeal,\u201d Askerova said.<\/p>\n
She said she would discuss further legal steps in her son’s case with a lawyer on November 3.
\nAt the same time, Askerova said that Safarli has no complaints about the conditions of detention.
\n\u201cHis conditions of detention are normal. However, he misses him a lot. Farid is very nervous about the unfounded arrest,\u201d Askerova noted.<\/p>\n
Regarding the fact that the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan raised the issue of Safarli\u2019s case at a meeting with her Iranian counterpart on September 14, she replied that \u201cthe Iranian side did not attach any importance to this.\u201d<\/p>\n
She noted that new evidence in favor of Safarli\u2019s innocence was presented to the appeal court.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hoped that Farid would be acquitted. Unfortunately, this did not happen. The Azerbaijani government is making efforts to free Farid. I hope that Farid will soon be released and return to his homeland,\u201d Askerova noted.<\/p>\n
*Farid Safarli, currently pursuing higher education in Germany, went missing in Iran in March of the present year while visiting a friend.
