According to the lawyers, there are no legal or procedural grounds for keeping the journalists in detention. The journalists themselves stated that the criminal case against them had been fabricated to punish them for their professional activities. The defense intends to appeal the court&#8217;s refusal to transfer the journalists to house arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>*On<\/em><em> December<\/em><em> 6,<\/em><em> employees<\/em><em> of<\/em><em> Meydan TV<\/em><em> Aynur<\/em><em> Elg\u00fcnesh,<\/em><em> Aytac<\/em><em> Tapdyg,<\/em><em> Khayala<\/em><em> Agaeva,<\/em><em> Aysel<\/em><em> Umudova,<\/em><em> Natig<\/em><em> Djavadly,<\/em><em> and<\/em><em> freelance<\/em><em> journalist<\/em><em> Ramin<\/em><em> Deko<\/em><em> (Jabrailzade)<\/em><em> were<\/em><em> arrested<\/em><em> on<\/em><em> suspicion<\/em><em> of<\/em><em> currency<\/em><em> smuggling.<\/em><em> On<\/em><em> December<\/em><em> 8,<\/em><em> the<\/em><em> court<\/em><em> ordered<\/em><em> their<\/em><em> detention.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The journalists have linked the criminal case to their professional activities.
