On May 27, the trial, chaired by Judge Roman Alakbarli, at the Baku Grave Crimes Court, first clarified the profile information of the accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, I. Aliyev\u2019s lawyer Rasul Jafarov filed a motion for his client to be removed from the glass cage and sit next to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also requested that the criminal case be terminated, citing the lack of evidence for the accusation, and if this was not done, Aliyev\u2019s pretrial detention be replaced with house arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The court only provided for Aliyev\u2019s removal from the glass cage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The review hearing was scheduled for June 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imran Aliyev, who was accused of smuggling, was detained in April 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site’s director said that when he was detained, the police beat him and forced him to sign a document by applying electric shock to his body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other defendant in the “Meclis.info<\/a>” case, activist Elgiz Gahraman, was taken into police custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was charged under 8 articles of the Criminal Code. These articles provide for a prison sentence of up to 12 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
