{"id":31098,"date":"2025-09-18T14:29:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T14:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.irfs.org\/?p=31098"},"modified":"2025-09-18T14:29:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T14:29:15","slug":"arrested-journalist-hospitalized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.irfs.org\/az\/news-feed\/arrested-journalist-hospitalized\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrested Journalist Hospitalized"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Azerbaijan, Shamshad Agha (Aghayev), the head of the website argument.az, who was arrested in the &#8220;Meydan TV case,&#8221; has been hospitalized in a medical facility of the Penitentiary Service due to gastrointestinal problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the journalist&#8217;s relatives, his stomach ulcer disease has worsened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shamshad Agha was arrested on February 5 in the &#8220;Meydan TV case.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was charged under Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (smuggling committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, 12 people are in custody in connection with this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On August 28, the defendants in the &#8220;Meydan TV case&#8221; had seven more charges added against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The arrested individuals do not plead guilty and state that they are being punished for their journalistic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human rights activists have recognized all the arrested individuals as political prisoners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Azerbaijan, Shamshad Agha (Aghayev), the head of the website argument.az, who was arrested in the &#8220;Meydan TV case,&#8221; has been hospitalized in a medical facility of the Penitentiary Service due to gastrointestinal problems.
