Hafiz Hajiyev, “Muasir Musavat” (Modern Musavat) Party chairman told that, today he filed a lawsuit against “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper due to the article “Balig Hafiz’s son-in-law has been arrested” published in “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper on 25 December 2007.
He noted that, in the morning he introduced the lawsuit to the Binegadi District Court.
The plaintiff demands defendant to publish a refutation for wrong and slander-like articles, to pay a fine of 20,000 AZN and asks the court to file a lawsuit against responsible staffs of the newspaper. In the lawsuit newspaper editorial office, Editor-in-Chief Substitute Azar Aykhan and a correspondent by name is Jahangir were noted as defense sides.
According to this matter IRFS spoke via telephone with “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper Deputy Editor-in-Chief Azar Aykhan. A.Aykhan noted that, “we analyzed whether the information published in the article is true or not. We are ready to publish refutation, if the information isn’t true”.
