AZERBAIJAN RANKED 146TH AMONG 175 COUNTRIES IN PRESS FREEDOM INDEX 2009

Today, 20 October, the Reporters Without Borders Organization released its eighth annual world press freedom index.

Azerbaijan lags behind Armenia and Georgia, according to the index.
Among 175 countries Azerbaijan is ranked 146th, Armenia is ranked 111 and Georgia is ranked 81st.  
Denmark leads the “Press Freedom Index 2009” with Finland, Ireland and Norway following.  
Iran, Turkmenistan, Eritrea and North Korea are placed at the lower end of the rankings.
