“HURRIYYET” NEWSPAPER CORRESPONDENT’S HOUSE ATTACKED

Yesterday, 12 October, “Hurriyyet” newspaper Ganjabasar regional correspondent Ikram Rafigoglu’s house was attacked by unidentified people. Ikram Rafigoglu told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that although several days ago he noticed that he was being stalked, he did not pay attention to it.

“Yesterday, while I was out, an unknown person came to my house and demanded that the door be opened,” said Rafigoglu. “My wife, who was at home with my mother-in-law, told him that I was not at home and did not open the door. However, that person began to knock on the door harder and demanded that they open the door. Then my wife screamed through the window calling neighbors for help. Upon returning home, I saw the neighbors chasing him away.” The journalist emphasized that they were not able to catch the attacker.
I.Rafigoglu noted that he met with Ganja city Police Department Head Rasim Musayev regarding this issue today, 13 October.
“Rasim Musayev told me that an investigation will be carried out into this case and those people will be found and involved in the investigation,” added Rafigoglu. “An investigation into this issue is being conducted in the investigation department and a photo-robot is being sketched for the attacker.”
I.Rafigoglu believes that this incident is related to his journalism work.
