The “Assistance Fund for Freedom of Speech and Journalists’ Protection” board conducted an emergency meeting today.
The work of the fund is carried out with the financial help from Open Society. In the meeting the attack by unknown people on “Azadlig” newspaper correspondent Agil Khalil was discussed, and a statement was prepared on this matter.
Then six appeals the fund received were considered. A decision was adopted to grant 1100 USD to these people.
• 400 USD was allocated for “Azadlig” Newspaper correspondent Agil Khalil;
• 300 USD for “Bizim Yol” newspaper journalist Natig Adilov to hire a lawyer for his court trial;
• 100 USD for “Yukselish” newspaper employee Elchin Hasanov;
• 100 for each of the journalists who lost their jobs and stopped their journalistic work– “Ayna” newspaper correspondent Khagani Ibadov, Ilsham Rafiyev and Elchin Karimov.
