NO REPLY FROM AZERCELL ABOUT THREATS MADE AGAINST U. JAFAROV

"Gundelik Azerbaijan" Editor, Military journalist Uzeyir Jafarov went to the police department yesterday (4 February) to follow up on an investigation into threating anonymous phone calls that the journalist received.

"Azercell" hasn't responded to our inquiry so far. That is why we are not able to help you," police officials told Jafarov.
"I asked them to tell me the number of the letter. But they said they didn't know that either," Jafarov told the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety. Jafarov says he will now contact Azercall himself to follow up on the matter.
Later today, at around 5pm IRFS spoke to U. Jafarov again. Javarov said, "I called Azercell and asked about the inquiry. A company representative asked the number of the letter. But I couldn't say answer this question because I didn't know it."
When asked why he couldn't obtain the number of the letter he said, "I also asked this question while I was at the police department. They said they weren't able to reveal it because there is some other information in the letter. I will appeal officially to Binegedi District Chief Police Department tomorrow."
