SUPREME COURT DOES NOT FULFILL YENI ZAMAN PARTY’S CASSATION COMPALINT

Today, 18 December, in the Supreme Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Esed Mirzeliyev, a hearing was held on the cassation complaint from the decision of the Baku Appellate Court adopted on the lawsuit of Yeni Zaman Party Chairman Musa Agayev against the Justice Ministry. M.Agayev told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.

The Supreme Court issued a decision to not fulfill the cassation complaint.

The party, which was established by “Novoye Vremya” newspaper’s (Russian language newspaper published in Azerbaijan) founder Musa Agayev, appealed to court because of the failure of the Justice Ministry not to register it in 2 years. On 3 June 2009 the Yasamal District Court did not fulfill the lawsuit. On 10 September 2009 the Appellate Court found the appeal unfounded and did not fulfill it. Although the Supreme Court issued a decision to uphold the decision of the lower court on 4 November, M.Agayev appealed to the Supreme Court again.
