TWO OF JOURNALISTS THAT WERE BEAT IN NAKHCHIVAN GIVE STATEMENTS TO PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

On Saturday, 30 August, two of the journalists, Radio Liberty correspondents Ilgar Nasibove and Malahet Nasibova, were beat on 27 August while preparing reports in Nahrem Village in the Babek region of Azerbaijan Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan, gave statements to Nakhchivan Prosecutor’s Office.

At the same time, Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan regional correspondent Elman Abbasov, which was also beat in the same incident, was unable to give a statement to the Prosecutor’s Office because he was in Baku.
“We gave information about how this incident occurred and the people who put pressure on us,” said Malahet Nasibova. Nasibova said that on Friday, August 29, the journalist appealed to the hospital of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic about their injuries, but workers their refused to examine them or provide them with medical care. “My condition has improved. But Ilgar still has pain in his stomach and head.”
