Ganimat Zahid’s Brother Fired

Feraset Zahidov, the brother of political exile Ganimat Zahid, has been dismissed from his job. His brother Ganimat is the Editor-in-Chief of Azadliq newspaper and is behind the Azerbaijani Hour TV program.   According to Feraset Zahidov, until his dismissal on November 23, he had been working as a repairman for the Cooperation University.   Feraset Zahidov believes his dismissal is related to Ganimat Zahid’s work. APFP deputy chairman Fuad Gahramanli detained

  Fuad Gahramanli, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP), was detained on December 8, reports APFP chairman Ali Karimli.   “Fuad Gahramanli is at the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Investigation of Mammad Ibrahim completed

The investigation into Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Presidium Presidium member Mammad Ibrahim’s case by Narimanov District Police Office has been concluded, reported his lawyer Yalchin Imanov on November 24.   The case has now been referred to court.  Ibrahim, currently in a pre-trial detention, is charged with Article 221.1 and Article 221. Major opposition party denied registration

Extended detention period for opposition activist Mammad Ibrahim

 On November 13, Narimanov District Court, chaired the judge Turgay Huseynov, considered the petition to extend the detention term of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APPF) Presidium member Mammad Ibrahim. Mammad Ibrahim faces a tougher charge

 On October 20, Narimanov District Court rejected the petition to release Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) Presidium member Mammad Ibrahim from detention, and to replace his sentence with house arrest. The motion was filed by Ibrahim’s lawyer Yalchin Imanov.   During the proceedings, it also emerged that Mammad Ibrahim’s previous charge under Article 221.1 of the Criminal Code has been replaced by a new one, under Article 221.

Opposition Party Chairman’s Adviser Mammad Ibrahim detained

 On 29 September, the Advisor to the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) Ali Karimli was detained. Mammad Ibrahim was taken to the Narimanov district Police Office #18, reported his son Togrul Ibrahim. Opposition activists harassed in Mingechevir

    On 24 August, a Mingechevir-based member of the opposition Popular Front Party (PFP), Emil Jafarli, and his brother were summoned to the police office. Opposition activist handed a 7.5 year jail sentence

  On July 30, Baku Grave Crimes Courts resumed the criminal trial of Asif Yusifli, a member of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP). Judge Zeynal Agayev presided over the hearing.   Asif Yusifli, a member of the APFP Supreme Assembly Presidium and a Karabakh war veteran, was detained on November 25 2014.
