    On May 14, Lankaran Grave Crimes Court passed a verdict on Murad Adilov, an activist of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP). He was convicted under article 234.4.3 (drug trafficking at a large scale) and sentenced to 6 years in jail. (more…)

Appeals Court upholds another huge fine on Azadliq newspaper

On February 19 the Baku Appeals Court, presided by Judge Ilgar Damirov, heard the appeal filed by the Azadliq newspaper against the fine imposed on the newspaper based on the lawsuit of Kabira Mammadova, owner of the Bina Shopping Center. Court upholds huge fine on Azadliq newspaper

On February 14 the Supreme Court, presided over by Judge Tatyana Goldman, denied the cassation appeal filed by the Azadliq newspaper, lawyer Fariz Namazli told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS). Police promises to guarantee safety for Azadliq newspaper correspondent

Elchin Ismayilli, correspondent of Azadliq newspaper in the district of Ismayilli, was summoned to the Ismayilli District Police Office on February 8th, after filing a police report for being followed and intimidated, as the journalist himself reported to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS). Alert: Azadlig’s editor summoned over critical article

On February 5th deputy chief editor of Azadliq newspaper Rahim Hajiyev was summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office, website of the prosecutor’s office reports.
