Yesterday (7 May) “Azadlig” Newspaper correspondent Agil Khalil was pursued by a group of unknown people who made two attempts to kill him.
Khalil told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. He said, “Yesterday one of them tried to push me under the subway train in “28 May” Metro Station in the evening hours. God saved my life. At that time the life of other people was in danger as well.”
According to Khalil’s accounts, two people, taking advantage of the darkness in the street, held him by his arms and attempted to take him somewhere. He somehow managed to escape, but didn’t stay in his own apartment. A. Khalil emphasized that he has decided to stop working for a while for his own safety.
