Vugar Gonagov (executive director of Khayal TV) and Zaur Guliyev (editor-in-chief of Khayal TV), currently being held in the Department Against Organized Crime, were not allowed to meet with their lawyer Elchin Sadigov,who personally reported to IRFS.
Vugar Gonagov, Zaur Guliyev and other media representatives have been brought to Baku. Jamil Mammadli (correspondent of Poligon News Agency), Zaur Mustafayev (manager of Khayal TV), Vahid Ibahimov and Islam Aslanov (film editors) were later released. But Vugar Gonagov and Zaur Guliyv have been charged under Article 233 (Organization of actions promoting infringement of a social order or active participation in such actions) and Article 309.2 (abuse of official powers) by the Department for Investigation of Grave Crimes. The Grave Crimes Court sentenced the two media representative to two months of pre-trial detention.
After the video featuring Rauf Habibov (former chief of Guba Executive Power) insulting the citizens of Guba was broadcast on Internet, there was a public riot in Guba. The citizens set Habibov’s house on fire and there were clashes between people and the police. After the protests president Ilham Aliyev dismissed Rauf Habibov from his post.
