ASSAULTED JOURNALIST TESTIFIES IN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Today the Azadlig reporter Ramin Deko was called to testify at the Yasamal Distrcit Police Department on his abduction and assault on April 3rd by unknown persons.

Deko reported that he had been received by Chief of Police Ismayil Asadov received him, who asked him why he had not come to testify earlier.
“I told him that I had not gone to the police because I thought it would be no use; usually cases involving journalists as victims remain unsolved. The Police Chief said that my case is being prioritized, and that all necessary measures will be taken to investigate the issue, in accordance with procedural requirements,” said the journalist.
Deko’s assault follows a similar incident involving another “Azadlig” newspaper correspondent, Seymur Haziyev, who was the victim of a similar attack.
