ATV WILL OPEN “INTERNATIONAL” CHANNEL

According to Radio Liberty, the National Television and Radio Council has issued a decision to grant a license to ATV to broadcast via satellite Azerbayjan International TV channel.

IRFS contacted the NTRC about participating in today’s meeting of the council, in which Azerbayjan International TV channel was to be discussed, however NTRC told IRFS the meeting would be closed. IRFS then gave NTRC its fax number, for the organization to send IRFS a press release after the NTRC meeting. Despite this NTRC provided no information about the meeting. IRFS’s repeated calls to NTRC went unanswered.
Azerbayjan-International channel will be a multilingual channel that will broadcast programming in Russian, Armenia, Persian, English, and Turkish. No tender was announced for this channel.
