A court hearing on a case against “Khural” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli that was postponed ten months ago was supposed to take place today (3 September).
Since Zeynalli wasn’t informed about this, he didn’t participate in the hearing, and therefore the hearing was postponed until 15 September. Zeynalli told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
Recall that a criminal case was opened against A. Zeynalli under Article 283 of the Criminal Code (inciting racial, religious, national discrimination). The lawsuit stemmed from the translation of “Mein Kampf” book by Adolf Hitler into Azeri by A.Zeynalli and publication of parts of the book in “Khural” Newspaper. The case against Zeynalli was considered by Narimanov District Court Judge Turgay Huseynov.
The book was sent for the Justice Ministry’s extended expertise.
