Azerbaijan: Crackdown and brutal repression in run-up to snap elections

Azerbaijan, a prospective partner to the European Union as negotiations of the strategic deal are in progress, has a long and brutal history of repression of critical voices.

As voters in Azerbaijan are set to cast ballots in a snap presidential election on Wednesday, 11 April, the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) and Democracy For Azerbaijan (AND) calls for a briefing to provide the latest update on the situation with human rights and democracy in Azerbaijan and present the actions undertaken by Azerbaijan’s civil society to watchdog the snap election.
