BRITISH AMBASSADOR TO AZERBAIJAN MEETS IRFS REGIONAL CORRESPONDENTS

British Ambassador Carolyn Browne visited Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan Regional Correspondents Elman Abbasov and Hekimeldostu Mehdiyev in the office of the Development Resource Center of Democracy and NGOs.

She was interested in the Monitoring of Human Rights and Mass Media project being implemented in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic by IRFS, which is receiving financial support from the British Embassy.  IRFS Nakhchivan Correspondents informed the Ambassador about the human rights and media situation in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and held discussions with her about it. In addition, Ms Browne met with several residents who faced pressure recently in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

During her visit, the Ambassador was accompanied by the second Secretary on political issues, Catherine Kleve.
