“Azadlig” Newspaper Director Azer Ahmedov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety today that the criminal cases on the 22 February beating of “Azadlig” Newspaper Agil Khalil and the 13 March stabbing of Khalil were combined.
The investigation on the combined cases is being carried out by the Baku City Police Department, under investigator Nazim Ahmedov.
The director added that today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. he was in the police department, and witnessed investigative work being carried out to indentify the people who attacked him. At the same time neither Khalil nor Ahmedovhave been given any information about this.
*Today a number of newspapers reported that one of the people who beat Khalil is Ministry of National Security Colonel Akif Chovdarov and the investigation already knows his indenity.
