DAY.AZ AND TODAY.AZ RESTORED TODAY

Day.az and its English-language sister site today.az reopened today, (26 February). However, several sections of the site, particularly the forum, interview section and internet radio are not operating.

Also absent from the site are advertisements, which were previously prevalent. In the early afternoon there was one small advertisement for “Jala” Juice, which has been removed by the evening.
Yesterday former founder day.az and today.az projects Anar Mammedkhanov revealed that the new founder of the project is an NGO. Although Mammadkhanov although he declined to comment on the name of the NGO.  According to Mammadkhanov, “Trend” Information-analytics Agency Director Ilgar Huseynov will be the new director of the sites.
The Day.az and Today.az websites stopped working on 18 February. At that time both the founder A.Mammedkhanov and Editor-in-Chief Baimov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) that the sites’ closures were technical in nature and they would re-open.
