The director of the opposition newspaper Azadliq, Faig Amirov, is being followed by unknown persons, Amirov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS).
According to Amirov, he noticed a black Hyundai Accent with the number plate 90 CD 674 following him while he was driving. When he stopped, they also stopped and waited for him.
On another occasion, Faig Amirov he saw the same car tailing him.
Azadliq newspaper’s senior leadership has notified the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the incident. Press Council chairman Aflatun Amashov has also been informed. Amashov has contacted the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and expressed his concern.
Azadliq leadership are also concerned that Faig Amirov could face a provocation.
