Today, 17 August, imprisoned Editor-in-Chief of “Tolishi Sado” Newspaper Novruzali Mammadov passed away. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by the Chairperson of the Defense Committee for Mammadov’s Rights Hilal Mammadov.
Several months ago N.Mammadov’s health deteriorated, and on 28 July he was transferred to the Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Services Central Hospital from strict regime prison #15.
Novruzali Mammadov was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment under article 274 (treachery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic.
