GANIMAT ZAHIDOV MOVED TO PRISON #17 IN BINA VILLAGE

Yesterday (22 May) "Azadlig" Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid was transferred to Prison #17.

Zahid's defense lawyer Elchin Sadigov told this to the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety. He said that the editor-in-chief was supposed to be moved to the prison #10 on 21 May. "He might have been moved to the prison #17 not to #10 because he wasn't moved to the prison on that day," Sadigov added.
Prison #17 is situated 35 km far away from the center of the city in a village named Bina.
Recall that on the basis of a verdict issued by Yasamal District Court Judge Sadaba Mammedova, Zahid was sentenced 3.5 years of imprisonment under article 127.2.3 of Criminal Code (to cause minor health damage with the intention of hooliganism), and 6 months under article 221 (hooliganism) – 4 years altogether.
*For their harsh and critical writing other imprisoned journalists (Eynulla Fatullayev, Mirza Sakit and Mushfig Huseynov) along with Ganimat Zahid were moved to the imprisons that are very far away from the city.
