Ganun publishing company appeals to President

On March 7, Ganun publishing company held a press conference in connection with the launched criminal case and financial sanction in the Natavan Club of the Writers’ Union. Famous and young writers, translators and editors participated in the event giving support to Ganun.
Speaking at the event, writer Chingiz Abdullayev underscored the importance of giving support to the publishing house which is experiencing difficult times.

Director of the publisher, Shahbaz Khuduoglu said they are deeply worried about imposition of the tax debt, summoning of writers and translators to investigation and the risk of closure haunting the Ganun.

Khuduoglu noted that they have sent an appeal to President Ilham Aliyev asking for help in dealing with this difficult situation.

In the appeal, they asked the President to assist in cancellation of this unjust fine and the VAT on books.

Note that on 01 November 2013, Tax Audit Department conducted a search in the office of Ganun, seizing documents, handwritings and computers of the publisher. A criminal case has been opened against the publisher and a financial sanction of 150,000 AZN has been determined.
