“GUNDALIK BAKI” FOUNDER SUES SHEYKULISLAM IN SPECIAL FROM OF LAWSUIT

Today, “Gundalik Baki" Newspaper founder and chief editor Habil Valiyev filed a special lawsuit against Head of Caucasus Muslims Department Sheykulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade in the Yasamal District Court.

The newspaper's deputy editor Uzeyir Jafarov told this to the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety.
According to Jafarov, a little while ago Haji Allahshukur Pashazade appealed to court in connection with a series of critical articles published in the newspaper. “Yasamal District Court judge Tahir Ismayilov issued a decision to ban articles about this issue in any mass media until the trial was over,” said Jafarov. “However, ignoring this decision, Haji Allahshukur Pashazade expressed critical opinions about us in the mass media and issued fatwa to peel our skin off and blamed the newspaper’s employees in serving Armenians.” Because of these actions, H.Valiyev filed a special lawsuit against Sheykulislam, added Jafarov.
The next hearing on Sheykulislam’s lawsuit against “Gundalik Baki” will take place on 10 February.
