INVESTIGATION FOR CASE AGAINST AKIF NAGI POSTPONED INDEFINITELY

The investigation to physical pressure against "Yeni Musavat" Newspaper column writer Zamin Haji by Karabakh Liberation Organization Chairman A. Nagi has been postponed indefinitely.

The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety was told this by Zamin Haji’s defense lawyer Fariz Namazli.
According to Namazli, although sufficient evidence and witness accounts have been gathered on this case, the investigation is being carried out partially by investigator Ilyas Seyidov. F. Namazli noted that they will appeal to Chief Prosecutor Zakir Garalov, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Rustam Usubov and Binagadi District Prosecutor Miralakbar Seyidov because the postponement of the investigation by I. Seyidov.
IRFS contacted KLO Chairman A. Nagi in connection with this issue. The investigation is being carried out, A. Nagi made a statement but does not know when the investigation will be concluded, said KLO Chairman.
On 12 December, KLO Chairman A. Nagi along with several people attacked "Yeni Musavat" editorial office, insulted the newspapers employee Z. Haji and used physical pressure against him. This stemmed from Z. Haji's article entitled "Dialogue between two deaf" published in the same day edition of "Yeni Musavat" newspaper where critical thoughts about KLO Chairman A.Nagi were expressed.
A criminal case had been opened in the Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office under article 163.1 (interference in legal work of journalist) of the Criminal Code in connection with the incident.
