Journalist’s Facebook and email accounts hacked

The editor of www.aznews.az news website, Elchin Zahiroglu says his Facebook and email accounts have been hacked. “Someone has hacked my Facebook and email accounts and sent abusive and threatening messages to a number of well-known public figures including Khadija Ismayilova, journalist of RFE/RL’s Azerbaijani Service (Radio Azadliq)” Zahiroglu told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.

“But I let you all know that these threats and abuses have nothing to do with me. All of them were sent by intruders. I have no idea who they are, but we’ll try to find out. I have also sent a personal appeal to the Interior Minister Ramil Usubov with request to expose the perpetrators and hold them to account” said Zahiroglu.

“Elchin Zahiroglu’s Facebook account has been hacked” posted Khadija Ismayil on her personal account. “They sent messages to me using his account and tried to hack my account as well. They sent me a link to a video and asked me to watch it. I went to those links, but they required yahoo ID and password. I refused to watch those videos, and then they sent abusive messages to me. Do not open the links that are sent to you from Elchin Zahiroglu’s account and report this account” followed Ismayilova’s post.
