JOURNALISTS HARASSED IN SADARAK DO NOT RECEIVE REPONSE TO THEIR COMPLAINTS

Although 20 days have passed since the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan Regional correspondents Hakimeldosu Mehdiyev, Elman Abbasov, and "Radio Liberty" and "Turan" Information Agency correspondent Malahat Nasibova appealed to the Chief Prosecutor of Azerbaijan Republic, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic's Prosecutor and Sadarak Region Prosecutor's Office in connection with pressure they faced in the Sadarak region's Heydarabad village on 16 January 2009, they did not receive an answer to their complaint.

The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by the persecuted journalists.
On 16 January, the journalists were subjected to attack by a group of people while trying to conduct an investigation in connection with residents of Sadarak region's Heydarabad village who were subjected to pressure because they filed a complaint against police. IRFS Nakhchivan Regional correspondent Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev was subjected to physical pressure, and the journalists were forced to leave.
