“Khazar-Lankaran” Football Club President Mais Masimov has filed a lawsuit against “FANAT.AZ” sports website project head Zahir Azamat and sports writer Natig Mukhtarli in the special format. Natig Mukhtarli told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that although he used harsh criticism about “Khazar-Lankaran” Football Club leadership’s financial embezzlement in his column articles, he never insulted or libeled anyone.
“Claiming that his and his family’s honor and dignity were insulted, Mais Masimov filed a lawsuit against me and website’s project head Zahir Azamat in the Narimanov District in the special format Court under article 147.2 (accusing someone in grave or especially grave crimes) and 148 (insult) of the Criminal Code,” said N.Mukhtarli.
We are investigating why Zahir Azamat was sued since website’s Chief Editor is Ali Sahib, emphasized N.Muktarli adding that a preliminary hearing on this case is scheduled to take place on 9 July at 3:00 p.m.
