Today, March 3rd, Baku Appeals Court heard the appeal filed by Khural Editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli against 3 February 2011 Narimanov District Court judgment. Judge Aflatun Gasimov presided over the hearing.
Khural Editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli represented the plaintidd side, while there eas no defendant representative in attendance.
Zeynalli defended his position and said that 3,000 ZN fine should be annuled; he was ready to pay 100 AZN in stage-by-stage.

BACKGROUND
Azerbaijani singer Nushaba Alasgarli filed a lawsuit against Khural newspaper citing humiliation of her honor in an article published in the Khural newspaper on 4 March, 2007. Under the previous court decision, the newspaper was fined 100 AZN. However, the newspaper failed to pay the fine because of financial problems. Later Narimanov District Court fined the newspaper 3,000 AZN for not paying the fine in time.
