Today, May 25th Khural newspaper editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli reported to IRFS that he appealed to Baku City Executive Power Head, Hajibala Abutalibov, for a place to protest.
Zeynalli says that the goal of the protest is to inform people about developments in the country and to seek help from the Azerbaijani people using democratic methods and constitutional rights.
“Khural newspaper has been published in Azerbaijan for 9 years. Within these years, Khural has faced 29 court lawsuits and has dealt with the majority of them. Unfair court fines, financial sanctions, and other restrictions have distracted us from our goal. Today, we again are facing unfair financial sanctions imposed by biased courts. Therefore, we will use our constitutional right and hold a protest in Azadlig square on June 19th,” Zeynalli said.
