Today a preparatory court hearing was conducted in the Baku Appellate Court on the decision adopted against “Khural” Newspaper, due to a lawsuit put forth by “Azerbaijan” Publishing House.
After citing the rights and duties of both parties, Judge Ilham Asaov appointed the next court hearing for noon on 12 February.
Recall that Narimanov District Court Judge Sevinc Aliyeva found "Khural" Newspaper Editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli guilty under article 147.2 of Criminal Code (defamation – accusing someone of committing grave crimes) on 17 January 2008 and sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months of corrective labor and to pay 15%of his salary to the government.
