LAWSUIT AGAINST “KHAZAR” TV FULFILLED

On 21 July, in the Economy Court #1, under the chairmanship of judge R. Abbasov, a court hearing was conducted Head of the Azerbaijan Cinema Producers Guild Huseyn Mehdiyev’s lawsuit against Khazar TV.

Mehdiyev told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. According to him, the judge fulfilled the lawsuit.

“In the verdict the judge banned the broadcasting of works which belong to ‘Azerbaijanfilm’ and Cinema Producers Guild on ‘Khazar’ TV until contracts are signed with the rightful owners,” said Mehdiyev. “The Court ordered ‘Khazar’ TV to pay material damages caused to plaintiffs with the broadcasting of author works illegally.”

Mehdiyev declined to comment on the amount of money the company would receive.

Recall that the Head of the Azerbaijan Cinema Producers Guild, Producer Huseyn Mehdiyev sued "Khazar TV" because the TV channel didn’t pay him an honorarium and violated legal rules. Mehdiyev noted that he will also file a lawsuit against ‘Public TV’ for the same reason.
