legal glossary for journalists

A “Legal terms for journalist” glossary was presented in International Press Center today. The 780-page glossary is a joint project of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Confederation of Lawyers and Press Council.

General Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Eldar Sultanov says that despite huge number of journalists writing about legal themes, there are still inaccuracies in specific news reports. The journalists should take into consideration their  audience, i.e. the legal materials are also read by judges, police and lawyers, Sultanov said.
Confederation of Azerbaijani Journalists Ali Huseynli noted that this is neither the first nor the last joint project of the said agencies, which are interested in enhancing the legal knowledge of mass media representatives.
The “Legal terms for journalist” glossary includes excerpts from the Constitution, Criminal Code, Civil Code, laws on Freedom of Assembly, on Mass Media, on Freedom of Information, and other effective legislative documents.
The glossary is the second edition of the book prepared by candidate of Law Sciences Eldar Afandiyev.
