The manuscripts of a book “Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid (Zahidov) was trying to write while in Bayil Prison #1 have been confiscated.
Zahid’s wife Ayanda Mursaliyeva, who met with Zahid in Prison #17 yesterday (1 June), told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
“The book is about the modern history of Azerbaijan. Bayil Prison Chief Misir Aliyev took the book from him to allegedly read it, but never returned it. We contacted Aliyev. He said he doesn’t have the book; he gave it to the Chief Department of Court Decision Services of the Justice Ministry. The reason for this is that the book contains writings against Heydar Aliyev and Ilham Aliyev,” A.Mursaliyeva said. She also added that file a lawsuit if the manuscript is not returned to Zahid.
Mursaliyeva also told IRFS that her husband doesn’t have any health problems, and didn't complain about the situation in the prison or about the attitude of the prison administration towards him.
