“MILLETIM” NEWSPAPER EDITOR-IN-CHIEF FINED 500 AZN

Today, 27 July, in the Narimanov District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Turgay Huseynov, a hearing was held on the lawsuit of citizen Havanise Abdullayeva against “Milletim” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Faramaz Novruzoglu. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told by F.Novruzoglu that the judge issued a decision to fine him in the amount of 500 AZN.

“I don’t know H.Abdullayeva and have not written anything about her,” said Novruzoglu. “However, she claims that I have written about her in my article entitled “Why is Rauf Arifoglu whining” two months earlier. This lawsuit and verdict are ordered by the National Security Ministry’s Anti-terror Center.”
Novruzoglu added that he will file an appeal against this decision.

On 22, in the Nizami District Court, during a hearing held on the special lawsuit of “Azadlig Harakatchilari” Union Chairman Tahmasib Novruzov, Judge Z.Aliyev issued a verdict to sentence “Nota” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Substitute Sardar Alibeyli and Faramaz Allahverdiyev to three months imprisonment for the articles published in “Nota” newspaper.
