MUSAVAT PARTY PICKET PREVENTED BY POLICE

Today (1 August) a group of Musavat Party members attempted to hold an unsanctioned picket in front of Baku City Executive Power (BCEP) to demand freedom of assembly and the creation of a democratic environment in the pre-election period.

According to the observations of the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety employees, approximately 10 people participated in the action. Holding up placards that read “Free Elections,” they tried to approach BCEP building several times, but were unable to do so. As a result police detained them.
Among the detained were several “Yeni Musavat” Newspaper employees who participants in the action.
