MUSHFIG HUSEYNOV’S HEALTH HAS NORMALIZED

Imprisoned “Bizim Yol” Newspaper correspondent Mushfig Huseynov has been sent back to Prison #3 from Prison #2 after receiving medical treatment. M. Huseynov’s close relative Javidan Huseynov told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.

“On 16 March close relatives met with Mushfig,” said J. Huseynov. “Mushfig said that he was transferred to Prison #3 two weeks ago because his blood decreased. After being transferred to Prison #3 his health normalized and therefore he was sent back to Prison #2. Huseynov added that Mushfig Huseynov does not have any complaints about prison conditions.
 Mushfig Huseynov was convicted under Article 311.1 (receiving of a bribe) of the Criminal Code and on 21 January 2008 was sentenced by Grave Crimes Court Judge Jamal Ramazanov to 6 years of imprisonment, followed by 2 year ban on his writing activity.  However, this sentence was reduced to 5 years through a decision adopted by Appellate Court Judge Sahibkhan Mirzayev on 4 April 2008.
