Yesterday, 22 June, relatives – spouse Maryam Mammadova and son Emil Mammadov visited imprisoned Head of Talysh Cultural Center, Editor-in-Chief of “Tolishi Sado” Newspaper Novruzali Mammadov in special regime Prison #15. On behalf of Mammadov’s family, defense committee head Hilal Mammadov told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. According to H.Mammadov, Novruzali Mammadov’s health has deteriorated.
N.Mammadov needs to be surgery for cataracts, and his thyroid and prostate glands. At present he takes medicine regularly for high blood pressure.
“As the defense committee for N.Mammadov, we express our grave concern about this situation and call on everyone to call for the release of this 68-year-old scientist who was arrested on unjust charges,” said H. Mammadov.
Novruzali Mammadov was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment under article 274 (treachery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic.
