Yesterday, 10 February, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Special Co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan Andreas Herkel and Joseph Debono Grech, who are visiting Baku, met with a group of media representatives
– Azerbaijan Journalist Union Chairperson, Editor-in-chief of Ayna and Zerkalo Newspapers Elchin Shikli, Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety Chairman Emin Huseynov, Azadlig Newspaper Director Azer Ahmedov, and media expert Alasgar Mammadli. The issue of imprisoned journalists Gundelik Azerbaijan and Realniy Azerbaijan Newspapers’ Editor-in-chief Eynulla Fatullayev, Azadlig Newspaper Editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid, youth bloggers Emin Milli (Abdullayev) and Adnan Hajizade, problems of independent media, the situation in the sphere of TV and radio, and negative changes proposed to the legislation of Azerbaijan regarding the activity of media and internet freedom were also discussed during the meeting.
Andreas Herkel addressed his congratulations to Ganimat Zahid for his birthday yesterday.
