PARDONED JOURNALIST RECEIVES DEATH THREAT

Pardoned "Nota Bene" newspaper journalist Faramaz Allahverdiyev (Novruzoglu) has received death threats.

Allahverdiyev told the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety, "On 10, 11, 12, 13 February I received calls to my mobile phone from hidden numbers. The calls came from different people, the voices were different. But the essence of the calls was same; they all demanded that the publication of my novel 'Girl's Spring Tragedy,' which was printed in "Nota Bene" after my release, be stopped. They threatened me with words like 'The murderers of Elmar Huseynov haven't been found yet, yours will not be found either,' 'We can kidnap your children,' and so on."
 Allahverdiyev has addressed appeals about these calls to the Ministry of Interior, the Prosecutor's Office and Ministry of National Security.
 
*In "Girl's Spring Tragedy" the inner-world of known and known people who have committed crimes is chronicled. The book is based on real events, and crimes of known and unknown people on the basis of real episodes. Many of the "characters" currently hold high-ranking posts. The novel focuses on events in Azerbaijan over the last 20-30 years. The first part of the novel was published on 27 January 2008 in "Nota Bene" Newspaper, and then the second half was published. Allahveridyev was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment
