Today, 30 October, in the Shaki District Court, under the chairmanship of judge Elbrus Mammadov, a hearing was held on the lawsuit against “Korrupsiya ve Jamiyyat” Journal Editor-in-chief Mammad Ahmadoglu (Hamidov), “Serbest”Newspaper Editor-in-chief Telman Mammadov, and “Korrupsiya ve Jamiyyat” journal adviser Valeh Yusifli. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by Mammad Ahmadoglu.
According to Mammad Ahmadoglu, the plaintiff rescinded his lawsuit during today’s hearing because the articles in the lawsuit were not founded. Therefore the judge threw out the case.
On 15 October Ahmadov Ahmadi-Mukhtar filed a lawsuit in the Shaki District Court against “Korrupsiya ve Jamiyyat” Journal Editor-in-chief Mammad Ahmadoglu (Hamidov), “Serbest” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Telman Mammadov, and “Korrupsiya ve Jamiyyat” journal adviser Valeh Yusifli. The lawsuit stems from the article “Political corpse is missing” that was published in “Sarbast” newspaper on 25 July 2009. Ahmadov Ahmadi-Mukhtar claimed that his and his family’s honor and dignity were insulted in the article.
