POOR ROADS PREVENTED CO-RAPPORTEUR FROM VISITING SAKIT ZAHIDOV

Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs Andreas Herkel and Yevgeniya Jivkova, who were visiting Azerbaijan, held a press-conference yesterday evening on the results of their trip.

During the conference, Herkel said that he wasn’t able to meet with "Azadlig" newspaper employee Sakit Zahidov due to weather conditions and the remoteness of Prison #14, where the imprisoned journalist is being held. Herkel also talked about transferring Mirza Sakit to a Treatment Facility. "In a few days Azerbaijan’s Special Representative of the Council of Europe’s Secretary-General Denis Bribosia will meet with Sakit. The journalist will be transferred to Treatment Facility by then," A.Herkel said.
