PRESS COUNCIL HOLDS A MEETING

Press Council told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that, Press Council’s Complaints Commission held its last meeting for this year.

Aflatun Amashov, Press Council chairman gave information about the complaints sent from different type of organizations. He noted that, within 2007 institutions and organizations, different officials and citizens sent 338 complaints to the Press Council. 211 complaints were reviewed in the Press Secretary, 46 of them were send back as they were wrong. 127 complaints were reviewed in Press Council’s Complaints Commission. 18 of them were sent back to the Press Secretary for reconsideration. Press Council’s Administration Board adopted 34 decisions according to the assessments of Complaints Commission. “Gulp” newspaper was removed from Press Council’s membership.
